UMBRELLAS I loved the idea of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg that is until I saw it and then I giggled my way through scene after scene of people dancing around plazas in too short miniskirts or tight pants. It's rather dreadful and fabulous at the same time. Oh, the umbrella part. While I understand the beauty of a little black dress, what's with the widow's weeds that predominate the landscape when rain falls from the sky? Wouldn't this be an ideal time to say "fuck you" to the heavens with something bright and sunny? Do yourself a favour and ditch that black monstrosity that lurks in your cupboard or closet. 11/13/2006
