HOUSEKEEPING A visit from Jay Allen, aka MTReaper, annihilated the four Berkeley DBs that powered powazek.com and hchamp.com. It's not my place to say that he's on a personal quest, but if you close your eyes and squint, he looks like a samurai. In addition to the MySQL dbs, I'm enjoying the sexy beast that is Movable Type 3.2 ( I promptly celebrated by installing two new plugins: CustomFields and IfEmpty). You'll see a few changes around the site: -- The recent thumbnails that appeared on every page have been replaced with thumbnails for the Previous and Next photos and I've pulled the thumbnails from the "words" stuff altogether. -- The "comment" bubble icon will link to that photo's page on Flickr. You'll need to be a member to do so, but accounts are free and I'm hoping to seduce you into sharing your own photos. As time permits, I'm going to go back through my photo archive to link older photos. -- The forum is kinda/sorta on hiatus. With my health and schedule such as it is, I've been a wretched host. I'd like to thank everyone who participated and apologize for my inactivity. There's more work to be done. My template code can only be described as "ass." I'd love to rip it apart and rebuild taking full advantage in the glory that is CSS. The good news is that I do have a few beta blockers left from the thyroid adventures that might make such an adventure possible though it's not a priority. Given the choice of a walk outside with Derek and the pups or a hot date with HTML, the hubby will win, hands down. 11/ 7/2005
