QUESTION AIR Questions taken from an interview with Mark Morris in the New York Times Sunday Magazine, altered accordingly, idea copped from the ever fabulous Lance Arthur. Best household chore "Best" and "chore" are two words that I wouldn't necessarily say in the same breath. I wouldn't call myself a tidy person though I can be very particular about some things. If I had to pick one chore, it would be laundry. Doug's Suds, Sunday mornings 7am. Always. I use the double load machine on the right and the triple loader on the left. Unfortunately, Doug has finally curtailed the ten minutes for a quarter extravaganza that was dryer 39 and we're back to seven. Fantasy career Hand made greeting card maker. Photography, letterpress, silk screen, etc. all made by hand by me. Oh, that and a cupcake baker -- it's not so much about the baking, but the icing. I love colour theory with food colouring. Favorite place to shop Art supply and book stores. I could wander for hours and not buy a thing, but mostly buy too much. Superstitions All the usual suspects (walking under ladders, spilt salt over the shoulder, etc.) and I've created a few of my own. The most persistent is that I must look at the Bigfoot mural just inside the sunset tunnel (bottom left) when I ride the N Judah to work. Morning routine Walk the dogs, pot of tea, check email (with Chihuahua on lap), post a photograph or review submissions and update the Mirror Project, shower, commute (bike or MUNI). Evening routine Given that 2004 has been the year of great illness, I turn into a turnip hours before the witching hour. My evening routing is all about sleeping, early and often. Favorite memento That would be my mother's Polaroid SX-70 camera. Unfortunately, due to a series of unfortunate events involving "he who shall not be named," it is no longer in my possession. Favorite place in the house Our hideously large cast iron bath tub. The true beauty of this object is somewhat hidden given that it's been walled it with tile. Best thing about being you Right now? Not having shingles. November has been difficult and I've felt very isolated. I'm back and work but still so tired that extracurricular activities are limited. A better thing about being me would be feeling 100% again. What's your reputation Crazy Chihuahua lady. Favorite movie The Party or Amelie. Book to recommend Foucault's Pendulum. Your welcome mat We don't have one. I don't think it would be possible to find anything that would go with the forest greet wall to wall carpet and bright salmon walls. The public spaces in our buildingare an affront to my colour sensibilities. Little big toy My Canon Digital Rebel. I love my digital SLR. Last meal Diet Coke, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, brussell sprouts and Devil's Food Cake from Sweet Inspirations on Market Street. Technology item you can't live without Email. I'm sad and pathetic. Idea of the perfect party Brunch: ViewMasters, french toast, Canadian maple syrup and friends. Topic you wouldn't bring up at a party Unfortunately, there are far too many topics that I do bring up that would be better left unsaid. I blame my British heritage for my insane madness for silly toilet humour. Almost Benny Hill and definitely Young Ones. Fictional character you most identify with Fantasy, Elizabeth Bennett. Actual, Pippi Longstockings. Favorite decorating technique Photographs, photographs, photographs. I'd rather spend money on camera equipment than throw pillows. Thing in your house you're fussiest about I should be far fussier about many things. Um. I'm really hard pressed to think of something that's less lame than ensuring there's an adequate supply of Diet Coke in the house. In my next life I promise to be a neater more organized person. Procrastination technique "There's this thing called the World Wide Web..." (1994) and my life was never quite the same. In a good way – home pages, journals, weblogs and now photoblogs. There's always something wonderful to see that's not related to what I should or could be doing. Guilty pleasure Sneaking photographs (nothing naughty or inappropriate) with my cameraphone, like people reading on Muni. I don't know why I'm so drawn the the composition of readers. Perhaps it's the desire to carve out a small bubble of personal space in an otherwise shoulder to shoulder hell. Someone needs to celebrate that endeavour. What's by your bedside A pile of half read books, mostly crap with one exception. I hold out hope that I might eventually plow my way through The Confusion given that another household member ate it up. Pets Chieka Chiquita Banana Lola Boom Boom Powazek Champ (lap warmer par extraordinaire), Bugsley Dante P -Pants Powazek and Spoo (she who rules all). Recent purchase 24mm f/2.8 wide angle lens. Always in the fridge Diet Coke, milk, champagne, condiments and cheese. Nagging injury The ring finger on my right hand is downright poopy. I snapped a tendon playing volleyball in high school and it didn't heal well. It snaps and pops in a weird way and I can't quite make a complete fist. Collections Tacky plastic souvenir fans, cameras, sand and sea glass from the beach. Fitness routine Having grown bored of the gym, I began riding my bike to work in January. I took a tumble on my way to work a few months ago and I've lost my nerve. Given that my ass is spreading faster than the San Andreas Fault, I need to get back on my bike or back into the gym. Recurring nightmare Zombie vampire dreams. Being chased, being wanted for something I didn't do or running to catch up to something lost or left behind. Idea of a perfect day French toast and crispy bacon for breakfast, walk with Derek and the pups through Buena Vista (with many squirrels for Bug to chase), photo safari on Market without the rampant public urination recently experience, popcorn and movie at the Metreon and a full nights sleep. 11/24/2004
